My wonderful blogging friend over at Non-Alcoholic Student amazingly reached 1,000 followers on his blog and in celebration, created a new award for the blogging community to share – called The Blogging Chum Award. Robert is a great friend; supportive, uplifting and his blog is relatable. Please check out his blog and give him a follow!

Not many people could go through what you have and still come out the other side sane and not damaged. You have always tried to protect us, support us and love us unconditionally – and when we have tested your strength, you have remained strong and resilient.
I was lucky that I got to see you in your best years. The years when you realised you had to start thinking about yourself; and be happy. We became best friends in that time – a bond that remains to this day. You are my confidant, my pal, my heart. Even when times got tough or we argued, we remained close and unbreakable. We laugh together like old friends, get silly together, bring out the best in each other.
You recently had a health scare that shook me to my core. I couldn’t imagine life without my Mum and I realised how much you really do mean to me. Your health has been deteriorating for the last few years; chronic illnesses. But this was something else – something we never expected. When we got the all clear, I vowed to do more for you, to take you places, book those holidays we wanted to go on.
But I just want to say thank you for everything. You pushed me to achieve; made me take opportunities and gave me the best start you could. We have shared memories, days, nights, bottles of wine together. I look forward to sharing many more – you deserve to be happy and spoiled.
I love you so much,
my best friend, my Mum.
